little boy blue

I owe so much of my apartment to the internet. Whether it was pinterest boards, DIYs, Ikea hacks, craigslist, or virtual garage sales, the digital world has manifested itself in a very very real way, creeping into every corner of my apartment. I'm not complaining though - certainly not complaining. I've sadly reached the point where I don't feel like there's anything else I can buy for my small space. We're just about decorated out. *tear*

But.

Then I came across this treasure - little boy blue.

Rewind back a year when I was moving into my first solo-apartment and feeling the need to furnish my home, and I bought some less-than-perfect furniture. It filled space and it looked nice, but did I absolutely love all of it? Nah. But still, I bought it and then I dutifully dragged it from Tennessee to Texas when that was where my life led. And honestly, some of the pieces I bought last year I really still love, whether theybe been repurposed or refurbished. But the one that I just couldn't get past was the slipper chair I had bought for the sole purpose of accompanying my couch.

I know what you're thinking, a slipper chair? Seriously? That's the most cliched "I'm trying to be cute but not really succeeding and I obviously don't give a rip about how comfy this thing is to sit on." But I had convinced myself to buy it, because it was neutral (love) and cheap (double love). Besides, just about anything can be fixed with a lambskin thrown over it, right?

Needless to say this chair stayed with me for about a year and a half and I think a grand total of three people have sat in it, myself not even among them. So zap back to the future with me when one Sunday I was breezing through one of my favorite virtual garage sale sights and I came across this. This precious little piece.

My mom's take? It looks like something that would be in a grandmother's home.

My sister's opinion? It could be cute. Maybe?

My roommate's response? I LOVE IT PLEASE GET IT IT'S PERFECT.

So we did. Snagged it from an older lady in a fancy apartment with a doorman for even less than I paid for that sub-par slipper chair.

My roommate's comment when we moved it into the apartment? "I love it - It breaks up all the white!" #noshame And it'd undoubtedly a favorite focal point of the room.

So I want to encourage you to snatch up those risky pieces that you stumble across. Even if not everyone sees it the way you do - if you love it, you can make it work. And then it's all the sweeter when it does.
