let's get wild

If I could pitch, I'd like to throw curveballs. What I love about design is that you get to make it uniquely you. Throw your curveballs, stretch the limits, and honey, by all means toe that line.

The pieces in my home that bring me the most joy are the most unconventional and the most unexpected.

As I'm sure many of you have found for yourself, the dollar spot in Target is like the adult version of a candy store. You just can't walk by it without throwing one of those cute pencil packs in your cart. Or any of the office supplies for that matter - those always get me. Second to that, I also like picking up the occasional seasonal decor banner or wreath.

Back during the Christmas season, I was lucky enough to come accross a DIY faux reindeer kit. It hit that sweet spot of notable, unique, and just enough off-kilter. I also love the opportunity to put something three-dimensional on the wall. So often we get stuck in flat-flat-flat, that a piece with real dimension hanging in a room really draws the eye. (Now keep in mind, you want to place these in low-traffic areas, or where there is a buffer zone created by a piece of furniture, so one of your guests doesn't accidentally give your reindeer a painfully unexpected eskimo kiss.) *wink*

The wreath also was a discounted Christmas find at Target that I like to carry through the seasons because of its simple, neutral, and classic look to help balance the fact that I have a cardboard craft hanging on my wall. It's made from nice thick felt and I really enjoy getting some green onto my wall. Now that it's spring and summer, I've replaced it with a floral edition - stay tuned for more details on how to freshen this display according to the season!
