I remember when my friend Beth first introduced to me to Pinterest. It was sophomore year of college in mid November, right on the cusp of finals. I was so excited to use it and knew it would be such a fun new creative outlet that I had to put off making my account until Christmas break, or I wouldn't have made it through finals! It opened up the doors of all the creative dreams I had been storing in my little heart for so long. I mean let's be honest, pinterest is every basic white girl's dream. I used that same site a year later to plan the decor and design with Beth for our first ever apartment.
Pinterest is such a fun little bubble of ideals and dreams and "in a perfect world"s. When I trace back my desire for design, I owe a lot of the original growth to Pinterest. It took my little bud of a desire to design and fostered it into a full grown bloom.
My Pinterest game has slowed down over the past year. As other parts of my life have sped up, my pinning time has slowed down. But the basic concept that Pinterest is built on that of an idea board, a space for imagination, even an inspiration wall; to be something that you look at to help spur you on in your creativity and concepts. While I haven't been able to access and refresh my boards with fresh pins, I've reverted back to the original pinterest board and I've quite enjoyed it. So when I'm sitting at my desk (more often on my bed or on the floor) writing to you out there in the blogosphere, this is what I look at.
It is so pleasing to have these paper pieces pinned in front of me, getting my brain turning and not only inspiring future endeavors, but also reminding me of those tender moments when those bits of creativity were discovered within myself in the past, driving me to where I am now. It's like my own, beautiful little history book - and I get to keep changing it, reviving it, and sprucing it up.
So if you're like me and you have a pin and paper Pinterest board, let's hit the refresh button and keep pinning.
