what time is it?

I'm one of those girls who always has to wear a watch. Maybe it's a control issue, but we can dig into that later (or never...) So when Field Treasure Designs started making these adorable reclaimed pallet clocks, I fell in love with them and hoped that I could one day call one mine.

This clock is one of my top 5 favorite items in my home. These precious clocks are made by the awesome Andrew Bacon of Field Treasure Designs, originally based out of Tyler, Texas. I pined for one of these clocks for a full year, entering instagram giveaways with no such luck. In December 2013, my two sweet sisters who had taken the time to notice, bought one for me for Christmas. I felt so well loved by that gift - they knew me down to the color of the stripe and the fancy clock hands.

And can we just talk about the little zoo going on the top shelf? Friends, I cannot emphasize enough how easy these things are! One is a red clay garden bird spray painted grey (which I can't quite seem to get enough of.) And its partner in crime was a toy giraffe from the dollar spot at Target (Target strikes again!) spray painted in my signature gold. FOR. THE. WIN.

Moral of this story: find something you love and figure out a way to get it into your home (even if it takes a coat of spray paint) because it will bring you so much joy. Additionally, love others well enough to take notice of their desires even when they are not fully aware of them themselves.

quick fixes

#1

Move things around! Sometimes your space is just stale and needs variation. Figure out another way for the puzzle pieces to fit together.

#2

Bring in some greenery or fresh flowers. Guaranteed to bring a little more life to any space.

#3

Open up your blinds! Natural light restores a space like none other. Short supply of windows? Increase your own lighting with bright and effective lamps.
