Summer is here which means my time has freed up immensely. It also means it's reading season. Whether by the pool, on the beach, or nestled on my couch, Summer is when I do some serious book damage. It's usually when I fly through the books that have been piling up from the rest of the year, and it's always the time that I'm craving new recommendations. So how about I tell you mine and you tell me yours? Swapsies - right?

Now I know I'm not alone in this first one, but The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is a must read for this summer. I'd heard all the instagram hype about it for a couple months, but of course hadn't had the time to read it. Then my roommate read it in May and she was positively enraptured by it. So I bumped it up a couple spots on my list and I'm currently in the throws of this WWII French drama. And no surprise, just like everybody else, I highly recommend it!

Right before The Nightingale I had just finished reading Liane Moriarty's What Alice Forgot. Again, I'd heard the whispers and rumblings about this book, but it took me a while to get around to picking it up. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and would definitely mark it as an easy summer read - great for the beach or any vacay. I've recently gotten onto the Liane Moriarty train, having read Big Little Lies and The Husband's Secret since January. I'd also love to read her book Three Wishes but I haven't been able to get my hands on it just yet.

To mix up the fiction a little bit, the next book on deck is Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan's Wild and Free. I follow Jess religiously on instagram and snapchat because of her constant regimen of authenticity, grace, and purposeful living. So when this book went up for pre-order I jumped right on it. It's the subtitle that really kills me + has me simultaneously amped to read it.

"A hope-filled anthem for the woman who feels she is both too much and never enough."

YEEESSSSS. This might be my defining read of the summer.

Have you read any of these? What are your thoughts? And more importantly, what is on your bookshelf?
