Yes - we will be talking about bar carts! *praise hands*

Among many other things, the part of Ann Marie's apartment that deserves the most props has to be her killer bar cart. Accessorized to the T, it was focal point of her space and oh so enjoyable to look at. I mean San Pellegrino and pink hydrangeas - how can you not love this?

Ann Marie pulled this beauty off with possibly the most basic Ikea hack in the book: gold spray paint and the right accessories. Never would have guessed, huh? This cart is from Ikea's discontinued BYGEL line, a perfect blank slate for this type of project. And if you're like me, already moaning at the word discontinued, have no fear, I have a solution. I found a way to re-invent this hack with my own version, coming to the blog on Tuesday - don't miss it!

The details on this cart are really what transform it from a mass produced, buy-it-in-a-box piece, to a completely one of a kind statement. I loved getting to go through the cart with Ann Marie and hear about where she got everything to stock it. As is her fashion, antique markets and unique finds popped up for the source of several pieces of barware. But don't worry, there was a splash of Target in there too.

My personal favorites are the pink rimmed crystal goblets that she scored at Round Top - a state famous antiques fair held in none other than...Round Top, Texas. Their next fair is at the end of this month and you better believe that if I don't make it there this year, I'll be there the next!

Unfortunately, Ann Marie's adorable barware finds are either one of a kind or out of stock (just proof of her great taste!) So I've found some simple substitutions for you. These unique highball glasses with a gilded band would be a great choice and these copper glasses would surely make a statement. We all know you can't beat a good moscow mule mug. But I think these stemless champagne flutes are at the top of my list - blending modern style with romantic classic vibes + the price just can not be beat!

Stay tuned for my own take on this same project + a goldmine of DIY tips, coming on Tuesday!

Cheers!

quick fixes

#1

Move things around! Sometimes your space is just stale and needs variation. Figure out another way for the puzzle pieces to fit together.

#2

Bring in some greenery or fresh flowers. Guaranteed to bring a little more life to any space.

#3

Open up your blinds! Natural light restores a space like none other. Short supply of windows? Increase your own lighting with bright and effective lamps.
