fall wrapped up

He's baaaaaaaaaack.

Welcoming fall meant I had to purge all of my summer greenery and florals, including my wreaths. Sad, I agree, but it's a little bit easier when you know fall decor is on the way!

I hope y'all have fond memories my dear friend here back from one of my very first-ever posts. When you met him he was graced with his Christmas greenery, but he has changed his tune! Now he's rocking this much more seasonally appropriate DIY cotton boll wrap.

Rewind to Fall 2015 when I was dying to have some cotton bolls in my home, but was less than impressed with my options. Apparently I jumped on this fluffy white train too little, too late and cotton bolls of any kind were cleared out of all the local stores. All that I could find was a discounted and sad looking cotton boll wreath in the back of my local Michaels.
Seeing as this sad little thing had whole empty sections where all you saw was the brown wreath circle left bare, I decided to amp it up with some laced burlap. Wrapping and entwining it in and out of the gaps fleshed it out wonderfully! It was a far cry from my original plans, but I'm learning to go with the flow and adjust along the way. And admittedly, I am terribly happy with the result. Not to mention I have the added investment of feeling like I actually accomplished something, instead of just forking over some money for somebody else's work.

As for our second wreath for the front door, it was a much simpler story. I started poking around online for basic fall transitional ideas and bumped into this jewel from Hobby Lobby.

It's marketed as a base for building up a wreath of your own, but I was just so enamored by the clean + simple air of the twisted branches that I couldn't bring myself to embellish it. It's rustic, earthy, and warm while simultaneously being modern and clean. Can you hear my heart going thump thump thump?

And with a price point of $16, it's a stunner for a steal. Make it your own if you like, but ours will stay clean and simple, greeting our guests until December 1 when I swap it for the traditional evergreen wreath.

What are your go-to wreaths or garlands for Autumn?
