return to magnolia

My college friend Beth came into town recently and to show her the best of the best, we decided to take a trip to Waco. Lucky us it was the weekend of Silobration - an all out bash with extra vendors lining the streets, so it was the all out Magnolia experience.

It was mid-October when we visited Magnolia Market, so it was at the height of pumpkin season. (If you're a pumpkin fanatic like myself, go check out my last post here.) In typical Magnolia fashion, autumn was seeping through every crack and corner of the property. It. Was. Glorious. They must have bought out all the pumpkins in Waco and beyond, and they used them well.

In a sea of October-orange, one of my favorite, subtle trends at the market was the undertone of green. Every now and again there was just the perfect touch of a deep, verdant green to cool off the warmth of the orange. It was a breath of fresh air to my eyes and I loved finding it peeking through unexpected corners. Just another piece of evidence that Chip and Jo care so deeply about those details.

I just had to share this wall display with you, because it knocked me down and out. In the middle of a crowded bustling market, I literally stopped walking, just so I could look at it. This is the kind of design innovation and vision that has set Chip and Jo apart. The ability to create something so intricate and appealing, but not overbearing is magnificent.

I had seen that she had created a similar display at her market in High Point, North Carolina and was thrilled to see it replicated in Waco! The greenery, the books, the beautiful deer artwork - they all set my heart abuzz.

I've also said before that I envy Joanna's ability to incorporate negative space. On the mantle above, the subtle touch of leaving two of those jugs empty helps simplify the scene.

In case you haven't heard, Joanna has started to really branch out her design business too. She's incorporated a furniture line, a rug line, and best of all a paint line! And the beautiful display is nothing less than is to be expected.

After a full tour of the market grounds, we still weren't done! We had the joy of experiencing the Vendor Fair that filled the street outside the Silo grounds.

A trip to Waco would not be complete without a trip to my personal favorite find - the Findery. Located just caddy-corner to the Silo grounds, it's a store that's a little off the map, but with a wonderful aesthetic. It's design elements align nicely wth that of Magnolia Market, but it also draws in some clothing and jewelry elements. But best of all, you can find some diamonds in the rough where the price is absolutely right.

If you ever make it all the way to Waco - by all means don't let the Findery escape your grasp. I kid you not when I say it is across the street from Magnolia Market, so you have no excuse to miss this gem.

I walked away from the day with a handful of treasures and a baller new tattoo (temporarily, see above.) But I also added a couple key pieces to my wishlist. So if you are one of my near and dears, keep this cathedral style window and signature magnolia wreath on my Christmas shortlist!

And as I sit here typing this post - I may or may not have just planned my next trip to the Silos! #addicted

Move things around! Sometimes your space is just stale and needs variation. Figure out another way for the puzzle pieces to fit together.

#2

Bring in some greenery or fresh flowers. Guaranteed to bring a little more life to any space.

#3

Open up your blinds! Natural light restores a space like none other. Short supply of windows? Increase your own lighting with bright and effective lamps.
