here in my own little corner

Remember how I raved about Wisteria Home's Boxing Day sale in this post? Well I'm finally getting around to sharing with you what I actually brought home with me that day!

When I set eyes on this precious little mirrored chest, I knew I loved it. And the discounted price tag just served to confirm my love. The soft, almost pinkish hue of the perfectly weathered wood along with the beautiful detailing on the faces of the drawers made it drool-worthy. It was discounted for some minor defects that (fingers-crossed) won't ever become a serious problem. And so far it's been great!

I nestled it into our breakfast nook for storing larger serving dishes, table linens, and to lend a hand with my shamefully large candle collection (another day, another story). And it has been the such a sweet little addition to the space.

I was particularly thrilled to have use this table runner that I had been eyeing enviously at Paper Source and finally managed to snag when it was 50% off! Aside from that though, I'll admit that I've had a bit of a hard time styling it. I've gone back and forth with different trinkets and pieces and just can't seem to settle on anything. I've also been itching to take down those records on the wall, so that might have some contribution to the design-block that I'm experiencing.

For now I'm in a holding pattern where I tweak the arrangement every now and then when I walk by. Swap that candle for this one. Move the greenery to the middle. Add a couple extra books to one side. All in all, I still haven't landed on an arrangement I'm totally thrilled with, but it's a process and I'm ok with that!

I did go back and forth for a while as to whether I wanted to share this with you or not, and have frankly been putting it off for a while (obviously). But I'm trying to maintain that realistic perspective here where I can share with you all the corners of the apartment, not just the ones that have been polished off and accented to a T. So in the name of authenticity - feast your eyes on my many attempts and shortcomings in styling atop this perfect little chest that deserves so much better!

That last picture is the current state of affairs, but who knows how long it will last!
