i died and went to anthro-heaven

And Anthro-heaven is located in Oregon. Did you know that the largest Anthropologie in the US is located in Portland? I bet you can guess where I'm going with this...

A few weeks before my spring break, I connected with a girl who used to live in Portland and she sent me a long list of wonderful recommendations for us to utilize on our trip. While we owe many of our great experiences to her (Tasty 'n Alder, Salt & Straw, and endless supply of local boutiques, etc.) quite possibly the best above them all was her knowledge of Anthropologie. Without her, we would have had no idea that this shopping mecca was just down the street from our hotel!

Friends, this location abounds for a total of 18,000-plus square feet. Rub your eyes and wipe your glasses, yes, you read that right - 18,000-plus square feet. And don't forget the plus. As if 18,000 wasn't enough. That means you could fit the entirety of my current 2-bedroom apartment into the store 15 times over and still have room for an extra couch or two. Holy. Mackerel.

Anthropologie did a post on their Portland store when they expanded it back in March of 2016. You know how your local and humble Anthropologie will typically house one to two full scale living room or bedrooms? Well Portland's location boasts of twelve of them. TWELVE! And each one is just as magnificent, inventive, and outlandish as the one before.

Now I myself am not a tried-and-true Anthropologie lover. I admire their style, but it's certainly not every piece is my cup of tea. Not to mention my budget only affords for me to shop in the sale section! But I do admire them for their unique eye for style and the guts they have to pull it off too. So I couldn't pass up this opportunity to see retail mecca.

And it did not. disappoint.

The storefront was massive and beautiful. It stretched across two stories of meticulously decorated floorspace with an expansive sale section and a BHLDN. *drool*

While I personally did not walk away with any purchases, I counted it as a successful trip, just for the experience alone. My roommate however did score some quintessential anthropologie shoes: metallic loafers at a killer price of $28. Jaw. Drop.

All to say, I might not be the brave and bold 20-something waif of a girl who Anthropologie markets their clothes to, but I do enjoy the aesthetic and ingenuity that they inspire. And there is certainly no better place to appreciate it than at their Portland store.

So get your butt to Portland.
