you'll find me at the beach

When I got back from my spring break trip to the Pacific Northwest, I was daunted with the months that were left standing between me and summer. After coming off of such a wonderful week of travel, the thought of trucking through another 2 1/2 months with no incentive seemed less than desirable. So I checked some flights and twisted some arms and managed to pull together a long weekend trip to the beach for this weekend! YES - as in I am en route to the beach today!

I've found that travel is such an effective incentive for me. It gives me an end goal, keeps me positive, and helps me stay on track with many areas of my life. So in celebration of this mid-work jaunt to the beach that I am thrilled about, here are some beach-vibe design styles that I would totally love to pull off....if I lived anywhere remotely near the water!

In all earnestness, I find typical beach decor tends to be too kitschy for my taste. It can so easily be overdone and eventually just becomes a mass of seashells and painted signs about "island time." But in the select few cases, it is simple, bright, and airy. And that is when I love it.

Pssssttt....to follow along with all of my beach escapades, be sure to check out my personal instagram for a constant stream of instastories!

quick fixes

#1

Move things around! Sometimes your space is just stale and needs variation. Figure out another way for the puzzle pieces to fit together.

#2

Bring in some greenery or fresh flowers. Guaranteed to bring a little more life to any space.

#3

Open up your blinds! Natural light restores a space like none other. Short supply of windows? Increase your own lighting with bright and effective lamps.
